Guide: Setting up yt-dlp with Deno on Kali Linux

1. Install Deno

   ┌──(ghazi㉿kali)-[~/Desktop]
   └─$ curl -fsSL https://deno.land/x/install/install.sh | sh
         

   Deno will be installed under ~/.deno/bin/deno.

2. Add Deno to PATH

   ┌──(ghazi㉿kali)-[~/Desktop]
   └─$ export DENO_INSTALL="$HOME/.deno"
   ┌──(ghazi㉿kali)-[~/Desktop]
   └─$ export PATH="$DENO_INSTALL/bin:$PATH"
         

3. Verify Installation

   ┌──(ghazi㉿kali)-[~/Desktop]
   └─$ deno --version
   deno 2.5.2 (stable)
   v8 14.0.365.5-rusty
   typescript 5.9.2
         

4. Install yt-dlp with dependencies

   ┌──(ghazi㉿kali)-[~/Desktop]
   └─$ pipx install --force "yt-dlp[default]"
         

   This ensures yt-dlp is installed with all required extras for the new YouTube JS solver.

5. Check yt-dlp Version

   ┌──(ghazi㉿kali)-[~/Desktop]
   └─$ yt-dlp --version
   2025.09.26
         

6. Test YouTube Download

   ┌──(ghazi㉿kali)-[~/Desktop]
   └─$ yt-dlp -v https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1HdZFgR-aA
   [download] 100% of    9.41MiB in 00:00:57
         

✅ yt-dlp + Deno setup completed successfully on Kali Linux
